A dishwasher needs three solid connections and secure mounting. If one is overlooked, that’s often where problems start.

The dishwasher connects to the hot water under the sink, with a shut-off valve and a new flexible line. The manufacturer’s elbow screws onto the appliance’s inlet valve.
The hose runs up in a high loop under the counter or through an air gap, then connects to the sink drain or the garbage disposal. Without it, dirty water can flow back into the tub.
We plug the appliance in with its power cord into an outlet under the sink. Most manufacturers recommend a dedicated 120 V circuit.
The dishwasher is secured under the counter or to the sides of the cabinet so it doesn’t tip when the door opens.

No connection left to chance. Every connection is checked during the test, before the technician leaves.
Here’s what happens during a built-in dishwasher installation, from the box to the first load.
Width, height, shut-off valve and electrical outlet: we make sure everything is ready before unboxing.
Water inlet elbow, drain hose and power cord, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Without crushing or kinking the drain hose or water line behind the appliance.
The adjustable legs set the height and level, so the door closes properly and water doesn’t spill out the front.
Fill, wash and drain, watching every connection to make sure there are no leaks.
A few checks before the visit avoid surprises on the day. Keep the box and the installation manual handy too.
Not bought yet? Measure the opening before choosing the model, and check the under-counter height listed on the manufacturer’s spec sheet.
Most built-in dishwashers are 24 inches wide. Compact models are 18 inches. Compare with your model’s spec sheet.
A shut-off valve for the hot water is required. If it’s old or seized, better to know in advance.
An outlet under the sink is needed to plug in the cord. If your model must be hardwired directly, that connection has to be done by an electrician.
If you have a new garbage disposal, its factory knockout plug must be removed before connecting the drain. Otherwise, the dishwasher won’t drain.
A good share of the repair calls we get come from a poorly done dishwasher hookup. Here are the mistakes we see most often.
The drain hose stays at floor level. Dirty sink water flows back into the tub and leaves odours.
The door closes poorly, the gasket doesn’t seal and water ends up leaking out the front.
Pushing the dishwasher against the wall too fast crushes the hose. It drains poorly from the first weeks.
A badly tightened connection leaks slowly under the appliance, often unnoticed until the floor is damaged.
Before buying a new one, ask yourself whether a repair would do. A pump, an inlet valve or a gasket can often be replaced for far less than a new appliance. If the repair isn’t worth it, we tell you frankly and can install the new one.
No surprises: here’s what happens between your call and the first load. We travel everywhere in Sherbrooke and to several towns in the Eastern Townships (see our service areas).
By phone or with the form. Give us the brand, the model and tell us whether it’s a replacement or a new installation.
We check the model’s requirements and give you a price idea before the visit.
The technician connects water, drain and power, then levels the dishwasher.
We run a cycle, check every connection and show you how to clean the filter.
Call us or write to us, we’ll get back to you.
It mostly depends on what’s already there. Replacing an old dishwasher with existing connections is simpler than a first-time installation. Give us the model and a few details about your kitchen: we give you a price idea in advance. The final price can vary if the job differs from what was planned, for example a valve or a connection that needs replacing.
A replacement with existing connections is generally done in a single visit. A first-time installation can require more preparation.
Yes, all brands, whether it’s a standard 24-inch model or a compact one.
No. We can’t screw into stone, so we secure the dishwasher to the sides of the cabinet with the side brackets supplied by most manufacturers.
Often, yes, but it needs an opening in the cabinet, a water supply, a drain and an electrical circuit. Describe your kitchen to us: depending on what’s already there, plumbing, electrical or carpentry work may be needed before the installation.
Most manufacturers recommend one. Your model’s installation manual states the type of circuit required.
